Inicio de operaciones: 29 de enero 2025 / Nuevo Aeropuerto Jorge Chávez

What is the project about?

Lima’s Airport City is a Lima Airport Partners’ (LAP) vision to create the first Airport City in South America. This large project has a 900 hectares land dimension, equivalent to the district of Miraflores and with investment from LAP as the infrastructure operator there will be in the future two landing strips, an only-passenger terminal and several commercial areas.

Within Airport City are the construction works for the expansion of the Jorge Chavez, works that LAP has been executing since 2018, when all the land was received from the Peruvian State. The construction of the new control tower has been completed, an infrastructure that is 65 meters high, equivalent to a 21-story building and is in the hands of CORPAC (Peruvian Commercial Aviation Corporation) for the air navigation systems implementation and their commissioning.

The second runway, also completed, is 3,480 meters long and has a network of more than 10 kilometers of new taxiways, approach lights, and beacon systems, among others. It will be able to serve all types of aircraft and is ready to be operational in April 2023 along with the new tower.

Our investment commitment in the the Jorge Chavez Airport’s expansion works has increased from US$ 1,600 to US$ 2,000 million and there are 7 banks that have signed an agreement with LAP to finance the works for the new only-passenger terminal, despite the political situation of the country.

LAP continues working to deliver a new airport infrastructure, key for the development of Peru, which will have a direct impact on economic growth and will turn our country into the hub of South America, respecting all the scopes found in the Concession Contract signed with the State, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

The New Jorge Chávez will turn Lima into an important hub for the region and will allow it to grow according to the demand for passenger traffic. A global terminal that will connect South America with the world!
