Programa una visita al Jorge Chávez  Aquí

Inicio de operaciones: 18 de diciembre / Primera ciudad aeropuerto Jorge Chávez

Regarding the information that has been disseminated in various media platforms about the accident that occurred at the Jorge Chávez International Airport, LAP reports the following:

  • The maneuver carried out on November 18, by the LAP Rescue team, was an exercise called Response Time. This exercise seeks to prove that aeronautical firefighters can attend to an emergency on the runway in no more than 3 minutes. This exercise is stipulated in the Peruvian Aeronautical Regulation (RAP 314), one of its characteristics being the speed in which rescue units must enter the runway.
  • It is important to mention that this operation was previously coordinated between the airport operator (LAP) and the Air Traffic Authority (CORPAC), as on previous occasions. In this case, the coordination began on November 17 and CORPAC proposed to carry out the exercise between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. the following day.
  • On November 18, during the morning and even before starting the exercise, the fire team carried out all the necessary coordination to carry out the maneuver. The control tower (CORPAC) confirmed the start time for 3:10 p.m., the time at which the maneuver began, impacting the LATAM aircraft at 3:11 p.m.
  • From LAP, we highlight the work of our aeronautical firefighters, who carried out the exercise with the respective prior authorizations and in accordance with current aeronautical regulations.
  • We will continue to collaborate with the authorities in charge so that the corresponding investigations are carried out in order to clarify the facts.
